Anxiety
by: Mark

Each dog has a different personality, so it would come down to what your doxie's personality is like. All puppies show signs of separation anxiety, which most out grow. If your doxie shows signs of separation anxiety then there are ways you can teach your doxie to cope while you are out.

Signs of separation anxiety can include one or more of the following, fearfulness (worry, apprehensiveness), hyperactivity, barking, destroying objects, urinating inappropriately, defecating in the house, vomiting, diarrhea, salivation, depression or aggressiveness, when they are about to be left alone or think they are. So until your doxie shows signs of anxiety I wouldn't worry about it.

You can have a few toys and chew toys for them to have while you are out. You could have the radio going. You could also have a food ball or any other toy where they have to work out how to get the food out, but keep in mind that the food must be part of their daily food intake and not over and above what he/she has each day. Could also do have a food treasure hunt where you hide the some of their daily food intake and they have to hunt to find them. Don't give him/her the run of the house just a small area. Also change the toys around each week so he/she has different toys to play with each week.

Hope this helps you out.
