Sleeping in own basket
by: Judy

Hi, this problem is not a quick fix.

The basket needs to become a safe place, never punish.

Start by having the basket in a family area or lounge, or perhaps have two baskets one for the bedroom.

Call dogs name, the say the command word "bed" if the puppy gets straight out return him to the basket and repeat the word "bed". As soon as he stays quietly in the bed for even a very short time 1 minutes give a treat, slowly increase the time, rewards work.
Do this exercise often always in the same way, you must be consistent. Perhaps put a soft blanket in the basket for him to snuggle into and even a favourite toy.

This worked for me.

Doxie-In-A-Basket!!!
by: Karen Bron

:) Good luck getting your lil doxie to not SLEEP in your bed! I've never had one that didn't! They are big burrowers under the blankets, too!
All 3 of mine sleep in the "big bed" 2 12 year olds and our newest rescue pup Doogie, 5 mos. If we dont let them up, they whine/cry just like little babies!!!! GoodLuck!
