Night Time Crate Training
by: Tui

If you have just got your puppy then maybe plug in a product called DAP, it makes the puppy feel more secure and that mum is still there. A good thing to have when buying a puppy to help the puppy adjust to it's new home. So you may want to get one. It can take a few days or weeks for him/her to settle at night with the gate closed. If he/she sleeps in there with the door open then maybe leave it open at night but close off a part of the room so if he/she walks around they don't have the whole house to roam or use as a toilet. Never punish your puppy in their bed as they will hate going to their bed.

You could move the crate into your bedroom for a start and then gradually move it out your room back to the area you want the crate to be in. Maybe have an old shirt or top of your to put in the crate at night.

The length of time does come down to the puppy it's self, some are quicker than others.
